A shallow upper volume sits behind the gallery. Below, a deeper timber return projects from the right side of the long wall, making an L-shaped footprint and sheltering the narrow entrance beside it.

The long threshold

The gallery projects beyond the left end over rising ground. Its stone wall stands behind the walkway and continues above the floor as a parapet. A taller rear screen and a lower front guard give the two edges different proportions.

The broad silver roof overhangs a darker, finer-grained timber body. Changing the pitch keeps the low eave above the upper room and raises the back wall.
